Clare Glen, Co Armagh. Two carparks, one at each end of the Glen. Also a caravan & camp site here. The Cusher River runs through the glen. Toilet block at the larger carpark on the western side of the glen

Nendrum Monastery, Mahee Island, Strangford Lough, Co Down.

Stopped here recently, a lovely spot, well maintained with lots of the ancient structures still visible, believed to date back to he 5th century. Great views all round (needed to spot approaching Vikings back in the time i guess!) Picnic table on site

Directions from Comber

Take the A22 (KillinchyRd) out of the town. Just beyond the 40mph limit, take a left unto the Ballydrain Rd. Continue for about 3 miles, then after passing The Old Schoolhouse Inn take a left unto the Ringneill Road, follow to the end, passing Mahee Castle

Greetings,

I had family that lived in Whitehead, to where we used to go on holiday. There used to be a fresh sea water outdoor swimming pool, freezing even in the height of a hot summer. The path to Blackhead and the lighthouse fell into disrepair but I thought that it was to be repaired.

Whilst there I remember visiting the Loughareema vanishing lake just outside of Ballycastle.

If anybody is passing I would be grateful to see a modern photo.

Hugh.
