Re: New Tenere 700
In the current market with the price of new bikes I think that £8399 makes it a very attractive proposition.
Apparently that’s an introductory price, after the initial deliveries it’ll go to its original release price of £8699.

Re: New Tenere 700
Is the sticker price really that important?
Surely in today's World it is 'affordability' that shifts new bikes out of their shipping crates because (over the long-term) rental income is far more lucrative to a manufacturer than a small one off profit for an outright sale.

Eh?, how can you seperate the 2 things?, any finance will be proportional to sticker price, they are inextricably linkedIs the sticker price really that important?

Re: New Tenere 700
Yes they are inextricably linked but it is becoming more common for consumers to look at the 'monthly' cost as the most important figure ie PCP or HP. The payments can be manipulated by the dealer or manufacturer to suit the buyer wherein the sticker price is buried.HedgeHopper wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 11:05 amEh?, how can you seperate the 2 things?, any finance will be proportional to sticker price, they are inextricably linkedIs the sticker price really that important?

The sticker price is the most important figure for the man paying cash but that will become a thing of the past especially on new bikes.

They do look pretty good looking forward to reading about how they ride. Can't help but think they would look great in Kenny Roberts colours

That's absolutely the case if you are buying on finance (old school HP).
However, if you are leasing then the payment is calculated on the basis of:
Ticket price - customer deposit - estimated residual value of asset at the end of lease + interest over lease period. This figure is then divided by the number of monthly payments. There is an optional ballon payment at the end if you wish to keep the bike.
Leasing allows people to run a bike that they couldn't afford to purchase for...but the 'balloon' is the sting in the tail.
In the world of trucks, where most are leased, it's often cheaper in terms of monthly payment to lease a more powerful tractor unit (500 hp) with a sleeper cab, than a 400 hp tractor unit with a day cab, even if the latter is actually better suited to the job, simply because the 'bigger' truck will be in more demand on the used market.
Many such trucks come to the second-hand market with their bunks unused.
It's a funny old world.
