A mate has a Goldentyre GT723 on the rear of his 990 adventure and TKC80 front which he swears by. I'm thinking of the same combo for my AT but also considering Mitas E09 both front and rear. Anyone else running any of these combo's, or others i should consider? looking for an 80% off road 20% road combination with reasonable lifespan.
Thanks.
Africa Twin Tyre Combo?
Re: Africa Twin Tyre Combo?
The e09 fronts are shit ...same as t64 michelin fronts...i used a mitas xt644 up front and a e07 plus on rear on salisbury plain on the xt660z which aint light...did fine .
Front is brilliant but rear was a bit suirmy in deep slop as can be expected but has huge mikeage potential...front is max 70mph though ...
Them e09 rears are bastards to do punctures on..

Re: Africa Twin Tyre Combo?
I'll second the e09 front being shite, frightening on my 950, front end slid across the road at anything approaching normal road speeds. The 950/990 Adventures are front heavy though so that probably didn't help.
MT21 was very good and predictable with an e09 on the rear.

You an sit on a new tyre not on wheel it wont squash... Carry a 6 inch g clamp and all is well.. Sure they are 6 ply tyres... But to be honest most dual sport tyres are 6 ply on big bikes... Mine has a tubliss conversion lol..
Re: Africa Twin Tyre Combo?
I wouldn't have liked to have to change a tube or repair a puncture on my 950 with the E09 trail side, I did manage to fit it and later change it using only tyre levers but it was hard work and far easier using something to hold the rim, the 950 was a 150/80/18.
Minky uses them so he'd have a good idea how hard they can be trail side.

Re: Africa Twin Tyre Combo?
I have been using E12's on mine, had two pairs now, backs wear pretty fast but they do grip well in anything but deep mud and you can hussle on the road with them, sidewalls are like concrete on the rear esecially.
