My throttle-side grip seemed cold a little while back ... I've new pair of grips in the garage so tried to pluck up the enthusiasm to change them. After a week or so, though, I thought I'd check the wiring - sure enough, the connector to the RH grip had become disconnected. Soon put right, and full heating restored.
Roll forward to last week - the clutch side grip seemed cold last time i took the bike out ... I suppose I owe it to the bike to check the wiring again! Trouble is, the house is warm, and it's cold/frosty and/or raining outside
hot grips wire?

Re: hot grips wire?
yeah I got to work outside too … checked the wire to the LHS and straight away found a loose connection .. sorted!! .. well good enough anyway .. will need tidying when we have that summer heatwave
many thanks to all who replied
I am still wondering what would be best to insulate the LHS bars tho

Re: hot grips wire?
You use literally anything a length of heat shrink, insulation tape even an old bicycle inner tube.
Just make sure whatever you use is on securely and won't twist and move.
Re: hot grips wire?
Depends what you are asking but grip glue, hairspray or I lockwire on the race bikes.
The secret of a long life is knowing when its time to go.
Re: hot grips wire?
sorry, should have been more specific.
I was asking what is recommended to use as a heat insulator between the lhs metal bar and the heated grip element. the rhs element sits atop the throttle plastic drum therefore doesn't loose as much heat straight into the handlebars as the bare lhs... seems heatshrink could be the way to go.
