The further south we got the better the trails were .........we were entering the Cathar region ,wide open high trails dropping down into wooded valleys

The morning temps were great for riding but by 10am it was getting hot and high 30°...s mid-afternoon so every opportunity we stopped for a brew.........................;;and they are few and far between

Riding on big open plateaus i was in my own zone and took no pics untill we came to an area scattered with stone sculptures

We'd been riding for hours seeing very little in the way of civalisation , then Carcassone came into view , we only stopped for 20 mins , way to many tourists , but if you've never been its not to be missed

I normally carry a note pad to jot down place names but forgot it this trip so can't say where we were most of the time , but this day ended with a wildcamp with running water

As were set up camp a van turned up and pulled over to a concrete slab and wall , Steve asked if it was ok to camp and what he was doing ,he said "yes no worries and he was filling his water tank for his animals"......so Steve took a shower

Nice pics Phil.
For anyone going to Carcassonne - it is really well worth the trip. The castle and the superb walled town are great. But avoid all national holidays and school holidays, and go round the citadel in the early evening when the coaches have left. We've been there and virtually had the whole place to ourselves. If you pick your time carefully. And it has possibly the best chocolate shop in all christendom...
For anyone going to Carcassonne - it is really well worth the trip. The castle and the superb walled town are great. Great stuff Phil , for your records the sculptures were at Caunes-Minervois , and the hose pipe shower was at Pradelles-en-Val ,keep it coming

Day 3 woke early with dawn .................... don't know when she crawled in besides me
Decamped and headed down the road to the 1st town on route for a brew , as it turned out the camp by the lake was near here

Well impressed with the 400 running a 14/52 its eating trails and happy at 80km/h on the road and giving me over 20km/l

Dropped of the trails into .......a town........ i need ya Bob .......where were we ......i do remember it had bars ,cafe and shops

Also remember loosing the track after there, at time the trail runs very close to a road and is very hard to tell the right way untill you've done a klick or 2 , anyhow we back tracked , not for the first time and got on the right route to top out here
