CCM 404 DS starting problem
I have just given my CCM 404 DS an oil change and clean air filter...something I've done numerous times before.
It has always started afterwards without a problem...until now.
It started OK with the fuel tank off...I replaced the tank, found one of the throttle cables was trapped, took the tank off, put it back on again and it will not fire!
Had quite a good spark, but replaced the plug with a brand-new NGK of correct gauge and trimmed a couple of mm off the plug lead at the cap end to expose more wire, and got an even better spark, but still not firing. Having inadvertently touched the plug while turning the engine over, I can confirm the spark goes all the way to my shoulder.
It's got compression, fuel appears to be getting through, but it won't even fire with a squirt of easy-start. It's not over-filled with oil...I put only the minimum amount in.
The starter is churning over like a good un. Battery fully-charged.
I thought maybe I'd over-oiled the air-filter, but removing it makes no difference. Tried it with the tank on and fuel lines connected, tank off and fuel lines full of fuel. Choke on and choke off. No difference.
Has anyone any ideas?

Re: CCM 404 DS starting problem
The starter won't activate if the kill switch is off or the stand is down: that's the strange thing. It's turning over well, good sparks etc, but not even a half-hearted 'bang' on easystart.
Never known anything like it.

Re: CCM 404 DS starting problem
No idea Have you turned the engine over by hand/back wheel to feel whats going on - there will be an auto decompressor but the valves will give some resistance.
Sounds like water in the fuel - drain carb into a jug and see how it looks. Is the slide definitely closing fully?
If you are confident the carb is ok then pop off the valve cover next, see what's what, but then the carb needs to come off to check for a blocked pilot jet...

Re: CCM 404 DS starting problem
Greetings,
I'm not a CCM expert but for any bike my list of checks would be;
rag left in carb after cleaning air filter drawn into inlet manifold
water/dirt disturbed in tank now blocking tap, petrol line and or carburettor
vacuum pipe trapped or disturbed
tank tap failed, (more typically a Triumph problem whereby the plastic knob breaks and so does not turn the metal section)
trapped/disturbed wiring,
you have replaced the spark plug
kill switch and or wiring
clean carb, connect a makeshift reservoir with fresh petrol and try again
check valve timing and ignition timing as they could have 'slipped', common on Nissan Micra worn timing chain can jump teeth during cranking
check decompressor mechanism
Feel like I'm trying to teach Grandma to suggest eggs here

Hugh.
Ps could always be just a duff battery

Re: CCM 404 DS starting problem
You ainy caught the choke cable too....warm weather no choke syndrome....got to be something simple as it ran before refitting tank

Re: CCM 404 DS starting problem
I had the same symptoms and someone suggested a teaspoon of oil down the spark plug hole leave overnight ,easy start the next day and she fired up straight away, kito owns it now
PS do you want to buy supermoto wheels with the brake caliper adapter
