I did look at doing that Tramp, but moved it down the list for various reasons.... You reckon it's worth doing?

Gents, I have another Morocco trip coming up and this time I am taking the DR. I would like to change the front 525 from a 15 to a 16 tooth for the road sections then move to a 15 or 14 for the off road and sand.

Is there someone in the UK that has 14/16 525 front sprockets for a 2012 650 SE? I think the RSE etc have a 520 but not sure if they have the same bolt holes as the SE. I would prefer not to have to change the whole setup to a 520 or order front sprockets from the US if I can help it.

Thanks in a advance

Pretty sure only 15 available for 525...one reason i went to 520 was greater sprocket cboise.... Have you searched for xf650 front sprockets?..

Have a nice time

BobH...

on my ccm644 same gearbox as the dr650se :o ...with my vapour speedo with a tacho changing from 15 to 16 front using a jt sprocket on 520 width gives 600rpm difference in top..not a lot but with a 48 rear sprocket the 16T gives 4000rpm at 60mph or 5000rpm at 70mph true speed so about 75mph on a dr speedo  thats with a 18rear wheel and mitas e07 fitted....

The 16T is overkill on trails and dangerous the 15T is just about doable....but Ive run 15T front and 51 rear at thats ace....

Also with a 16T front the chain is getting real close to the engine case...

just some info for you to digest :D

I'm not sure you could even fit a 16t on the front but the boys on the DR650 thread on ADV rider will put you right.

Hi all, many thanks for all the replies.

Phil, Thanks for the link, I was sure the pre 96 SE was a 520 pitch but will email the supplier to be sure.

Tramp, thanks for all the info and noted on the 16 tooth off road, will be switching to a 14 when we get to the trails.

Bob, thanks yes it will take the 16 and you can if you grind the retainer fit a 14.

If the front sprocket turns out to be a 520 I may just bite the bullet and place an order with ProCycle and fit a complete 520 system

If you go for a 520 be aware some are narrower than the std 525 on splines....yes the early dr650 used a 520....someone on dr rider pisted the jt sprocket codes for the wider 520 ftonts....
