Lomo Panniers.

Post by Brenhden »

Morning all, just seen Lomo are launching bike panniers next week.

I'll try and post a photo. I think they are Β£50 a set.

I expect they will be extremely popular!

Cheers

Bren

Lomo stuff is normally very good but at Β£50 a set
Well that immediately questions their quality.

It doesn't seem out of line with the prices of the other motorcycle gear.

Most motorcycle-specific kit is very overpriced and poor quality.

I don't know how the makers of hard panniers can justify the prices they charge for what are just crude metal boxes with brackets.

May be timely for my Italy Trip.

Interesting. I've been using a pair of these:

Strapped to the side of the bike for a few years now. Not as convenient as bike specific stuff but at Β£14 each I won't complain.

I suspect they wouldn't fair too well in a high speed slide along the road, but they've taken a few low speed drops without noticing.

Doesn't that say everything about the modern middle class snob. If it's cheap it must be rubbish, how very British.

I think its fine to question quality. I've had enough low price, high quality Lomo stuff to have built faith in the brand, if I hadn't it would be a concern. In the service world you can generally only have one of the two.

A better question would be whether they will get reviewed alongside their rivals fairly. A big expensive 'sponsor' rival would be well hacked off if these were reviewed as equal quality.

Time will tell.
