France - reflective helmet stickers. Has anyone been stopped without them?
Off to France next month and although I have a pack of stickers I don't really want to stick them on. Thoughts please, thanks.

No
As with many laws like this in France, the authorities like to have them on the statute book (code penal) but never seems to implement or police any of them. Which living here suits me just fine. All you really need to go biking in France is a relaxed attitude and a credit card...
Have a great trip.

Thanks for your reply. I thought this might be the case but you cannot beat the experiences of others. Once I'd bought the stickers I found out they can be a bar steward to get off again?

What a stupid idea. If they can't see a bike and rider are they going to notice a disembodied crash helmet coming at them

The suits have to justify their existence.....these types of laws are great to keep your job.......your boss thinks you're brilliant.

As has been said--its been on the statutes for some time--but never enforced to my knowledge--and also for "locals" only, not visitors. I have a couple of Shark helmets(French and very good value)--and they both came with stickers in the box but not applied--in one case it would have ruined my beautiful retro colour scheme

Not certain about this, but I think I read something about the stickers being to help the pompiers find you at night if you have rogered yourself into a ditch. They reflect torches shone at them.
Or at least they might find your head...
