I do wonder how sellers value stuff, prices appear to be going up week by week based on what stuff is advertised for but are they actually selling anything?
Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.

Hey Russ, used to always log a few of the same items on evil bay which gave a good "average" market value/price......but even that sometimes goes a bit over the top.... :?

Bit like 2nd hand cars around the £2-5K mark. They HAVE gone up since before Xmas when I was looking for a runabout for the family. I reckon at least £500 and not as much about to choose from. Dealers reckon its as a result of new car Regs plummeting, money tight etc etc

Dealer tells me 2nd hand bikes are the same. .. It is the time of year that bikes sell mind, and Dealers smile when you walk in the shop :D

There is talk in the wider industry that in 3 years the pcp cars and bikes will flood markets... But someone askinv 2500 for a 2005 transalp is mad compared to a cb500x for 3500 on a 2015 plate...

The Buyer is ALWAYS right... I suspect in many ways, the TA is the better bike, but that is purely a matter for the man holding the money. :)

Funnily, I was looking at a possible price for my 2005 Vara over the weekend, and from my perspective, I was pleasantly surprised at the price they are going for 5-600 quid more than I anticipated, but I do have to get the wonga in my pocket first!!

I will NOT be doing a PCP, but rather an old fashioned loan or pay cash. With some cheap money about, I may pop it on as a "farm bike".... ;-)

I read somewhere that prices for some used bikes are up (for the same model) £1000 on last year.

Modern bikes are now stupidly expensive new...look at the price of a new Honda Fireblade.

Yes you get all that electronic 'stuff' and a multicoloured dash to distract you as you ride along.

But a lot of folk don't want that...and the prices for bikes without so much stuff are being pulled up as a result!

Last Autumn, I purchased an old-school Aprilia RSV 1000 as an investment rather than a ride...will it pay off?

Could well do, Richard. I owned three Milles, and raced one of them in the Aprilia Mille MRO Cup. Love 'em.

The early first gen. bikes in top condition are already going up a little bit. The Haga and Edwards replicas are definitely getting collectible. I don't think you can go wrong really. It certainly won't go down in value now.

Bit of a shame to buy one just as a static investment. They are such good bikes to ride. Thrashing a RSVR around Donington is one of life's great pleasures.
