One thing the RR ones have going for them is that they make it super easy to mount a tool tube on the right side.

If I could justify the change to my financial controller, I would have the 701 enduro in an instant but I don’t plan to ride to Outer Mongolia for a wild camping weekend.
2022 Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro sadly gone due to ill health.
Now on a 2025 Triumph Scrambler 400X but may be fitter next year.

I bet KTM sell 10 690 or 701, for every CCM 450 that is sold

This forum is going down the pan because there's not much debate about bikes anymore. Normally if I've nothing nice to say I don't say it, but in an attempt to get a bit of banter and debate I've given my honest opinion.
The 690/701 is good, but most people who've had one would acknowledge that there are a few issues.
You have to admire KTM sticking with a big bruiser of a single......a fantastic engine.
If you could get that engine in a CCM GP 450, or if KTM/Husky built an adventure version, with decent ergonomics and weather protection it would blow the CCM away.
My opinion is that any EXC will run rings around the 690/701 on trails and actually be at least as comfy on the road!
It's a fun bike, but it's tiring on long trips, but as I say the engine is fantastic.
Short(ish) commutes, hooligan blasts, it's great, but as a more serious long trip (Adventure) bike it's not the best.

Personally i am really looking forward to it all bikes have issues and things people want to change, i may want a softer seat and to increase the tank range, screen fairing kit etc.. but i'm looking forward to it and the coming future modifications.

I'm already putting my Christmas list together!

the main thing is to enjoy the looking-forward to, and the excitement of picking up a new bike .. then riding the glittering new machine .. your machine .. and the joy and happiness that that brings 8-)

any shortcoming will show themselves soon enough
but those shortcomings are related to how the owner uses the bike
more than they being the bikes fault.

then there is the joy of looking at other bikes ..
or of smugly riding the one you own

Haha, sorry for my curt response to a typical JohnnyBoxer wind-up!
I do like the bike but.......the bike you've just px'd the GS800 is my favourite bike!
I'd be interested in your opinions after a few months of ownership.
