From MCN it looks like things are looking pretty bleak for the return of road racing to the UK mainland :

Re: Welsh Road Race 2018 Cancelled
thought it was a bit too good to be true
a fantastic course .. I thought a bit dangerous tbh .. but then ..
o .. don't forget Aberdare races! july/aug
but forget the heads of the valley course.
(circuit of wales) ..cow .. "In June 2017 a proposed taxpayer-funded guarantee of £210million was rejected by the Welsh Government on the grounds that the financial risk was too great."

Re: Welsh Road Race 2018 Cancelled
Surely it is actually less dangerous that having lamp posts, kerbs, walls and houses as your crash barriers?
I’m hopeful it’s just the usual MCN crap reporting but it doesn’t look promising. There hasn’t been a word from the organisation, which if it were nonsense you would have expected a reply by now.

it would not be as (hard) dangerous as iom TT . no way .. but I think a lot more riders would mis-judge/over-cook the seemingly easy flowing roads (adverse cambers, tight bends, blind rises, narrow track etc )

Re: Welsh Road Race 2018 Cancelled
If the cancellation is true, that's pretty poor show to announce the dates and drum up loads of interest before absolutely confirming that it can go ahead. I quite fancied going over for it myself. I bet lots of people like you have booked B&Bs etc. And if the organisers hadn't firmly booked McPint then they really shouldn't have let folk believe that he'd be there.TomBoyNI wrote: ↑Fri Feb 02, 2018 10:18 pm From MCN it looks like things are looking pretty bleak for the return of road racing to the UK mainland :

But perhaps it's just fake news. Sad.

Re: Welsh Road Race 2018 Cancelled
I done Wales last winter and again in the autumn. I still have to see Snowdon so hopefully I might get a clear day in August.
