well I just voted for Hugh :)
the few posts of his that I have read have always seemed fair and honourable (rare these days) and showed a commitment to keeping trails open ... even a foray into our welsh problems (a very rare occurrence)
anyone who works unselfishly to help keep our trails open, gets my vote!
.. and if he is recommended by Richard Simpson, then he must be a good blokie :D 8-)

It appears that the thread asking where the original thread had gone has also gone. Surely a simple explanation would be easier.
I sometimes dispair at what seems like secrecy and paranoia, plus disrespect towards members. I'm sure some policy is being broken somewhere by someone but if you have to go digging to find out what the issue is something must be wrong.

Excellent to see that the newest thread on the TRF "forum" has official sanction in the form of a response from a director.
It would still be good to know what was wrong with the previous ones though.

I posted on the reappeared thread on the national TRF forum last night, asking if anyone knew why the thread about Hugh had been locked, and guess what, my post has now been removed without any explanation.

I'm not at all surprised, as any comments that do not agree with Directors views are immediately removed.

I have been a member of the TRF for over 20 years and thought that my continued pro active support would at least allow me to be able to comment on important subjects in a democratic way, clearly, I was wrong, but won't make that mistake again.

It really is bizarre. It just gives the impression that there are conflicting views held by those with the "keys" to the forum, such as it is.
Conflicting views are good in my opinion though. It suggests discussion, you know, normal human type stuff.

In my View, the TRF local groups are the real TRF.

The main organisation is in danger of succumbing to the rot suffered by some other members associations, that of overly concerning itself with it's own image and continuing existance.

I don't think you were wrong to ask a perfectly reasonable question regarding a very questionable action.

There are groups that have broken away from the TRF completely and operate under a different name, there are several groups that are TRF in name only.
