Hello Al,
Same one!
The pilot's last r/t message was to request clearance to undertake low-level manoeuvres. An early use of the Mach Loop perhaps?
When the USAF F15's from Lakenheath enter the 'Loop' nowadays , you can see them dipping their wings to a fallen comrade as they fly up over the 'Mach Gap' and down to the Cross Foxes.
Interestingly, 3km to the East is a Jü 88, luckily the Luftwaffe pilot made a soft landing and followed the stream down to Gelli - Ddolen farmhouse where the farmer made him a cup of tea whilst they waited for the local policeman to come from Dolgellau to pick him up; the pilot had dropped his Lüger whilst crossing the stream......it's probably still in there

If you are ever down this way, I'll take you up to see Lancaster W4929, which is not far from Sennybridge.
