Ktm 1090 adventure r, ktm 1290 adventure r or BMW 1200 adventure

Post by gothbiker »

I've decided to sell my existing 1150gs and t595 and to buy one new/nearly new bike, has anybody riding the above and what do you think? Bit bored of running a few vehicles and always doing small jobs, it's for all round use euro tours, Sunday fun and a bit of commuting, being able to go down mild green lanes would be great, test rides are going to be booked

I got a 1090 Adventure R. 1800 miles on it so far. Green lanes and back roads it's really good and nothing but praise for it, Bit tall in the leg especially with the optional rally pegs but all a bit of a compromise and I'm not having any real issues with the height. I'm 6'1". There is a 1090 thread on here which I started if you want to get a feel for things. I also put some stuff on my website - https://timgsa.wixsite.com/bikes/copy-of-modifications. Seemed pretty good value compared with 1290 or the GS Rallye equivalent. I sold my GSA1200 to get it. GSA better road bike but didn't like going offload - too frightening. No where like the same issues with the 1090, much more confidence inspiring. The standard TKC80s are good but recommended limit 100mph. Ergonomics of the bike means it gets a bit light at that speed anyway so not a big issue unless you're a speed demon in which case the 1290 with road tyres may be a better option if you have the cash.
