Wild Camping - APPLECROSS

Post by wonkyd »

Doing a fast-blast over to Applecross in October and planning on wild camping over there just for one night.

Can anyone suggest anywhere in the village or just on the outskirts to pitch up ?

There's only 2 of us so not a massive camping footprint.

A few hundred yards along the road from the pub (with your back to the pub turn right) plenty of room on the grass by the beech.
Used it loads of times in the camper van.

About 2 mile past heading out on the coast road there is a tarmac car park with litter bin
And a fresh water spring , ample of grass around it for tents, it's a great spot, although
Quite a long walk to the pub if that's what your after. Great views as it looks back across
The bay to apple cross. :D

You could always use the campsite as its quite close to the pub.

Or, as others have mentioned use the beech.

Heres one taken on the beech a few years back

Thanks guys. I've just google mapped the place and there seems to be quite a few places close to the Applecross Inn itself and near toilets etc so I think we're good to go :-)

Will post pics after the ride :D

I know, I know, tony, you can never be to close to a pub, it's the life blood of any trip!

The time I camped at that spot ,at apple cross was one of my first trips up there, sorted
By tenere mart and sykesy, first time I meet Eric, he lead us up and wild camped behind
That pub near glen co, Eric knows the crack, Eric had to get away the next day, bloody
Next night, 2 miles from the pub,it wouldn't have happened on Eric's watch!!

It was a steady 2 mile ride back after a few sherbets! Good to hear from you Tony!
