Lake District 5 passes ride 6/8/17

Post by scotsy »

In Erics absence 4 of us ABR lads did 5 passes today in the Lakes. Had breakfast at the Byre cafe at Bootle, pricety but very good, then did Hardknott, Wrynose, Langdale and then Keswick for a brew at the filling station.

Heading from there to Honister Pass the weather just got worse and worse but we went on to do Newlands Pass (instead of Whinlatter) and jumped on the A66 towards Penrith doing a right turn back towards Ulleswater so we could do the Kirkstone Pass on the way back towards the Lyth Valley then Manchester.

The rain just got worse and worse so after a brew at 'the Kirkstone inn' we decided to head for the M6 and got split up due to the poor visibilty

After some dodgy filtering i ended up going off into Lancaster services for some tissues to clean my spectacles and visor (inside AND out) before setting of for home again. The visibilty was atrocious so i followed an Artic at a safe distance as i could see his upper lights above the spray !!!

I got home about 5.30 from a 7am start and apart from finding out my kit leaks i had a belting day out with Chris, Anthony and Marcus over around 280 miles. I would guess that 200 of those were in the rain

All the lads reported in that they got home safely so overall an enjoyable day
