If you've never tried one...do so while you still can.
I really should sell mine, but I can't bear to.

The big katoom so far

Post by bond_yzf »

Well it's been a few months into the ownership of the big orange beast and I'll eat my own words about the ktm.

It maybe on the thristy side, it might eat rear tyres and chains but by christ is it a damn lot of fun.

First thing was to get the suspension dialed in an raised to the r travel. Front was very undersprung so in with some 0.60 springs from an se.

Handles like a big 450 off road and I love it.

Standard screen isnt up to much so a call into rade for a smaller carbon screen.

Stock handgaurds aren't up to much so a set of acerbis was on order.

Just for the pure induction roar I would have bought the rottweiler intake kit it sounds glorious!

The rottweiler snap out kit makes removing the glove box a 5sec job meaning airlifted change is less than 60s and getting to the plugs/heads easy.

It eats mitas e09's so I've just fitted a new motoz tractionator adv rear so see how this holds up.

Done the usual oberon slave mod also.

The orange was growing on me on and off but I think it needs a trip to the powdercoaters

Be interested to hear how you get on with that tractionator rear tyre, I like the E09's, they are a great tyre for my standard of riding, mixed with a mt21 front.

Funnily enough I'm upgrading my 950 in a couple of weeks to my mates 2013 990 the same colour as yours, what weight are you if you don't mind me asking?
I've had to put firmer springs in my forks on my 950 as it was way too soft and dived terrible, I'll be looking at doing similar to the 990, I'm probably 16 stone or just over with kit.

So I might need next weight up springs then, my 950's were .48's stock, I fitted .56's and they were still a bit soft.
