Forum influence

Post by ChasF »

How much does reading this and other forums influence where you ride, what you ride or any other aspect of your biking life?
In my case I find I can be inspired by some of the travel threads and sometimes motivated to get my finger out and do some repairs or mods. to a bike. The travel inspiration usually comes to nothing mostly due to lack of time.

None at all (thumbs)
I have been dreaming about riding a motorcycle RTW since I was about 12 years old (still dreaming). I was riding and farkling my daily transport, going on European camping holidays and rode an XT500 round the Australian outback before the internet was invented - looking at the age demographic of this forum, I suspect everyone else is the same (thumbs)

I was thinking on more of a day to day basis.
I, likewise, did a UK to Cape Town trip back in 1991/1992 on a GS before the days of the internet, GPS, mobile phones, digital cameras and nobody had ever heard of Charlie and Ewan!

I've usually got a good idea of where I fancy going but the forum often gives me inspiration to get on and sort it plus lots of detailed places worth riding. (thumbs)

I'm influenced massively then bugger off do it my way which is normally the wrong way.
But met some great people and really enjoy the meets when I can get away from the wife and kids. I would never have gone to France and done some great off-roading without reading the write ups on here

That's kind of the point - what would you have missed out on if it hadn't been for a forum.

Good point, Can't say it influences me, but if I didn't read it I would never have gone to the midlands Rally which was fantastic, so a good place to find out about events and meet ups with other riders

Ride reports make me get out the UK or Europe map and make an effort to go somewhere
