what is "Sprockette's First Rule of Road Tyre Trail Riding"?

Nothing spectacular just when its wet, ride the bumps not the contours. Or else risk getting that "front end washed out" thing that no one is too fond of. Doesn't apply as much if you have proper tyres though, just road ones (or Trailwings!) :laugh:

That's more useful than the other thing I learned tonight, which is that when relaxing with a bottle of Peroni and various comestibles, alternating a square of Galaxy chocolate with a few salted peanuts gives a not entirely unpleasing effect.

you know Sproket i`ve a wr enduro and a 990 ktm i`ve used both on the same trails up here it`s hard work faster on the yam but it`s more of a thrill on a big bike to the same, so i think it`s the same as u useing a road bike if you know what i mean :cheer:

I get what yr saying about the congrats for all the bull s**t in training I get all the time at work and its only been 31 years since ny training :whistle: I have to farkel when I can and get my self a xmas presents :laugh:

Not sure I was given any marbles from the start. :laugh: :laugh:

My training finishes in November/December, depending on whether or not they can sort out the timetables (we're on our third "definitely confirmed" timetable at the moment) so time is fast running out for me to make up my mind.

At the moment it looks like I'm swinging towards a KTM 690 Enduro R (or possibly the SM version if I can get some off road wheels too) or something like a triumph scrambler or W800. Although, ever since my test ride, the Triumph people are calling me regularly to see "if we're any closer" and that's annoying me quite a bit. There is also the lovely Transalp which actually fits me like a glove so that's an option too. Also there is the XT660R which I think looks lovely (although lots of nobbly bits on the engine to have to clean) and finally the DR-Z400E but not so sure as the warranty is a bit short (6 months) and I have had a bad DR-Z in the past so a longer warranty would be preferable. I will be going for something new I think as I would like a bike I can keep for a very long time and know the full history of. Not for any practical reason, just sentimentality really! :laugh:

Still be keeping the Bandit though, such a strong workhorse and I want to tinker with it. Make it shiny.

And fit a sidecar to it too. B)

Well a lot of nice bikes to choose from there and you already have a great bike I would struggle with more than two to choose from I bought new for similar reasons, 3 years this year for me just over 18k miles also have the extended warrenty at the moment which includes the BMW recovery.off to the pyrenees in 14 sleeps but hope to ride back :laugh:

If you're talking about the training I think you're talking about, my brother (One of several nurses in the family) I seem to recall described the education process as "Glorified Sh*tty arse wiping". (Didn't do him any harm. Married a nurse, 3 nice kids and currently having to put up with an appalling 20 odd degrees in the Melbourne winter where he lives). I'm talking to much again aren't I? Erm....I like Honda's?
