Ha ! Glad I'm not the only one seduced by the yellow and black

Nostalgia is a powerful tool but not as good as it used to be.... :)

Yep, I missed out on those too.
So I bought myself an RD tank as a consolation.

Having a test ride on an MT07 to see how I like the engine, if I do then getting an XSR700 looks like a distinct possibility, and getting it with the 60th Anniversary colour speed blocks panels will scratch a 40 years itch :)

I had several MK2 TDM's with the 270 degree crank engine years ago and always loved them. My Wife's MT07 gives that same feeling and although it lacks that stomp of an 850 with carbs it does have great fuel injection delivery which is very linear right through from tickover to redline and of course it is a great deal lighter. The MT is a budget bike which really shows in the suspension but then so do all the bikes in that price bracket, my Mk1 Versys was the same.
Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.

I think that the latest ones have the suspension set up of the XSR, but a new shock sounds like a good investment, especially from what Chris said earlier.

If you're test 07 has an Akra pipe you may well be hooked - like I was a couple of years back.

Seen XSR 60th's down to £5k, and got a mate who may be looking for a 500X too (to do an RR).

That Bike mag XSR customisation didn't turn out so well. (44 secs)

Back in 2002 I had a BMW 1150GS in the blue and white Paris Dakar colours with a Remus exhaust on it as a loan bike. One very quickly followed permanently into my garage

40 years ago my first bike was a YB100, tomorrow, a 60th Anniversary XSR700 will be my second Yamaha.
