Plastic side panels need a birthday....where?

Post by exrm193 »

I have plastic side panels on my XR650L. I'd like to give them a refurb.
Anyone know of anywhere it can be done?

Thanks

Sadly what Jonnyboxer says I think^^^
Jumped on this hoping to find the perfect answer as I had the same question over a year ago for an XT project...
Unless you invest in your own buffing kit I don't think theres a way to achieve this for sensible money but I'll keep an eye out here just in case someone has the magic cure.
Good luck!

just in process of doing mine, could do with a a machine to buff it a bit more but doing it by hand getting a pretty good result though I probably won't get the depth of shine on mine.

Rub down panel
3 coats plastic primer 600 grit rub down on last coat
4 coats colour 1200 grit rub down after second coat 1500 rub down on last coat wet'n'dry allowed 12-24 hrs between coats nice hot day in sunroom
3 coats petrol resistant lacquer 1500 wet n dry last coat.
Turtle wax colour magic black lost count on how many applications so far. see slight improvement after each.
