I saw that as well today.
I've not heard of this happening anyway else?
Looks like final drive failures on the GS have moved on.

I thought BMW were doing a recall on this, I've read of a few failures of 1200 forks when used extensively off road. There was a ride report I read where they came across one abandoned with broken forks. Someone later said that a recall had just been issued.

Interesting.
Without knowing the history of the bike it is impossible to tell if it has been subjected to abuse or been in a previous accident.
However, I know from my own (bitter) experience with BMW that they deny absolutely everything, even to the point that when you show them umpteen cases of exactly the same thing, they still keep on that it is a one off and they don't recognise internet information as evidence.

There are recalls for some BMW suspension stantions in the US I think due to crimping failures.
A quick google brings up this for SA

I did read a thread this morning elsewhere of a guy who has made alluminium clamps for the top of the stansions covering the crimps

This is all over Facebook at the minute with numerous groups popping up. Seems to be a bit more than sour grapes to be fair.
Boo :-p

There is still a lot of uncertainty what caused Kevin Ash's crash? This?
Quite worrying if you own one I would think?
