Midgies have hatched and apparently abundant on Arran now as are Sheep Ticks. Take precautions.

I used to cycle round Arran with pals from work. You can do it in a day, but then you don't get a night out in Blackwaterfoot, so we took two with plenty detours - caves, standing stones, distillery etc.

There is a weekend ferry now running from Ardrossan, via Brodick (for some trips) to Campbeltown and vice versa. I cant remember the details, but may be of use if time is short.

We're going for 4 nights so not in any hurry,just going to potter down Kintyre.I read somewhere else midgies on Arran are a special breed of viscous so already got the Smidge and head nets!

We are must back from 10 days in Mull. It was relatively quiet compared to other years. Weather was a bit of everything and the midge's weren't too bad except for this morning.

My 1st ever scottish isle was Cumbrae Island,a short ferry crossing from Largs,not much in terms of scenery but the pubs in the islands capital Millport were great,only trouble was,upon our arrival we were told that some ancient law was still in force meaning their was no camping allowed on the island :blink:

Wifey and I toured for 12 days a few weeks back. We did the Isle's of Seil, Mull & Skye. We lucked out - mostly clear blue skies and temperature wise perfect for riding.
