Panzer Down !!

Post by Heff »

Unfortunately, the Panzer had a fight with an Oil Tanker, and lost. :(

Out on a country road, when I stopped behind this tanker. The driver obviously didn't check his mirrors as he proceeded to reverse into me, pushing me back before it toppled over.

You can see the score marks below the bike

I did walk away though with minor injuries :(

So now without wheels for the foreseeable future

Not good but at least you walked away from it.Even if the driver did look in his mirrors he probably wouldn't have seen you if you were sat behind him though.

Good to hear your relatively good after that incident.
We had an awful incident like that in work a few years back and the poor boy didn't servive.
Hope the new panzer is back to full strength again soon.

Assuming the tanker driver admitted the liability, and so does his insurers, then you are probably entitled to a replacement vehicle until yours gets repaired. Nothing too grand, so don't expect them to happily pay for excessive rental charges.
Check if you have legal cover, if so, start making a list of costs, eg a taxi to get you home, and take pictures of damaged kit / injuries etc.
Best thing is at least you could walk away from the disaster.

The thing is, I could see him in his mirrors, he just didn't look.
I had literally stopped 12-15 feet behind him, but almost immediately he went into reverse giving me no time except sound my horn (which he says he didn't hear  )
He did admit liability though, but it might be a different storey when his insurance get his version.
The score marks speak for themselves.
On a plus side, it was witnessed by a farmer who was coming the other way in his tractor. That was the reason the tanker stopped in the first place

Good to see you are ok Heff. Nowt you could do really, but just get out of the way! Yes, it'll be interesting to hear his version of events in a while.
The witness will hopefully support you and help to get it sorted ASAP.
