According to Klim, you must have a receipt for proof of purchase. All when and good but who keeps a receipt for long periods of time and if you cant provide it they wont help. Gortex give a lifetime warranty so no matter what they should stand by there warranty and repair or replace the item if faulty.
Rukka dealers dont quibble and exchange or repair no problem.
I have 2 klim Jackets but will be looking into rukka next time

As I said though, you dont go to klim, you go back to the retailer at which you bought it. If you were daft enough to buy offshore, they wont warranty within the country you try to claim, and thats to protect the local retailer. Also that retailer will accept any proof of purchase ie credit card statement etc so the only way you can be unlucky is if you buy with cash and lose the receipt, or you try to save a few quid by buying from offshore.
nb in UK law your contract is always with the retailer, NOT with the manufacturer.

Having had loads of issues with Rukka jackets and trousers when it comes to service and repairs I wouldnt buy another. The lock out rubber closing is terrible and needs the silicone all the time and the trousers leaked. For a premium product I hoped for more as the 1st Rukka lasted years and years without a single issue.

This is timely. I just got back from off road skills in Wales where it has been heavy rain all day. My Heine Gericke GoreTex jacket that has been absolutely perfect for nearly 10 years let me down big time today. The so-called waterproof pocket apparently wasn't up to the task. At lunchtime I checked the pocket to find my phone sat in a puddle and no longer working. I wouldn't have thought to go back to GoreTex but after seeing this it's worth a try.

You get what you pay for and buying cheap isn't always the answer
