Re: F800 GS "Head Shake"
A friend of mine had the exact same issue with one kind of trail tyre and only that tyre so I would put money on the front tyre

agreed. Had Karoo's on 12gs and was very vibey. Would suggest swapping for something like TKC80's which I've had on my 800mancunian wrote:A friend of mine had the exact same issue with one kind of trail tyre and only that tyre so I would put money on the front tyre

Ordered a Michelin Anakee Wild on the recommendation of a friend who has a F800. Will see how that does ! (thumbs)royle100 wrote: Had Karoo's on 12gs and was very vibey. Would suggest swapping for something like TKC80's which I've had on my 800

If the preload is set to max (and you dont weigh 150kg etc) then there's your issue. Bike is too much weight on the front wheel. Take some off, balance it correctly. test ride it.
Re: F800 GS "Head Shake"
I had fresh tkc80's on my f650 sertao, it wagged it's head at anything over 90mph, changed tyres, sorted.
If everything else is in good order, tyres is my bet.

*Update*
I replaced the front tyre and tube. Put all the suspension settings back to stock.
If anything it was worse
I did a test. Rode the bike and when it started to shake I moved forward, no change.
I then slid as far as I could towards the back of the seat.....bingo (thumbs)
So I need to raise the front or lower the rear.
However the preload is set to minimum on the rear and the forks are as far down in the clamps as they can go....
I'm going to try fitting some spacers in the forks to increase the preload.
cheers for all the comments (thumbs)

Re: F800 GS "Head Shake"
You said the preload was set to max? not min?
don't put spacers in the forks that is absolutely not the answer here. What weight of spring is on the rear? did you buy the bike second hand?

It was on max, youre correct Mike, but I set it back to min today which is as per the manual for a light rider with unloaded bike.Mike54 wrote:You said the preload was set to max? not min?

The bike is used. The spring is the stock one in the rear but the forks have Hyperpros.
I do have the original factory fork springs I could pop them back in as a test?

hello Pete
Mine does the same and so did Emma's f700 until Balderstone reset her rear suspension hers is a lowered bike and I think it was wrong from new.
luggage/weight at rear seems to make no difference to mine ,however various screens have made a difference what do you have fitted.
hope you get sorted soon mate
