Some fantastic photos - I'm looking to do the NC500 in June, but will be going to JoG mainly for the photo opportunity.

Can't beat a steak like that either - doing it the right way!

Be interested to know of any route suggestions you have as I'll be exploring Scotland and want to experience the best route on my way up.

Just back from an off-piste trip based on going anti-clockwise round the NC500. Already done JoG so headed up over Bonnar Bridge, Lairg, Altnaharra, Strathnaver to Tongue. All the local accommodation was booked up.

Visited Croick church where Highlanders sheltering from the weather during the Clearances scratched their names on the window. Found some Art at Skerry harbour. Great beaches at Shegra & Polin. Tarbet was very busy.

Then Headed down to Lochinver & Ullapool via the Actitbuie road ending up at my buddies house in Gairloch.

Ian at Ullapool MC's says allot of bikers are coming in for new tyres because the Highland roads are tough on their tyres & they think they've plenty tread when they set out.

Aye, loads of the new UK-Euro floating about now.

The rain hit for the trip home. Wouldn't be Scotland without it. And the zip went on my Spada waterproof jacket too.
Hey ho.

Anyways... I routinely ride from Manchester to Aberdeen for work (offshore) but this trip was a bit different.

I had to fly back to blighty to do a course in work time, and sadly (lol) the course finished on the Friday and there was no helicopters until tomorrow morning (Momday)

So I slung my camping bag on the back of the bike...

It meant I had Friday lunchtime till today, to do whatever I wanted

And all on full pay! :P

So, I pottered off up to Inverness, via the Caingorms, then headed to Forres (Ace Adventure Camping) its the next best thing to Wild Camping.

My intention had been to have a night at Forres and then a night at Loch Assynt or Lochinver, wild camping, which I've done before.

But, cause I was slightly worried about work calling, and managing wet kit, I pitched camp at Forres for two nights.

Saturday was great, I went off towards Invergordon, and then took the windy B roads up through BonnerBridge, found a butchers, and carried on up to Loch Shin / Merkland, where I plopped myself down and made a coffee and a big Man Size steak and shroom sarny on the Loch Shore, lovely!
all sat from the perch of a cumfy seat, hows yer bum (pvt joke)
