Magillian/ Greencastle ferry
Magillian/ Greencastle ferry
Hi do,s any locals know if the ferry is operational yet. The website just mentions Spring 2017. Its seems to be a sketchy service at best.

Re: Magillian/ Greencastle ferry
Hello Mac - you are right it is a bit of hit & miss. There is a pub beside the ferry terminal I think it is (or used to be) called The Point. If you gave them a ring they would hopefully be able to confirm if it is operational

Hi Mate, the website said it was operational so i rode down the reality was everything is chained up and the ferry nowhere to be seen. Ah well never mind rode the long way round and had a great day (thumbs)Flintlock wrote:Hello Mac - you are right it is a bit of hit & miss. Re: Magillligan/ Greencastle ferry
I was in the Point bar for lunch today and talking to staff.
They are of the opinion that it will not run again. It was started with money from both goverments as a benifit to the peace etc. This money has dried up and the ferry lost a lot of money last year. With Brexit coming the future is uncertain and nobody is waiting to take it on.

Re: Magillian/ Greencastle ferry
What's even worse is the will it wont it run because once it loses credibility
people don't plan to use the route. A pity the website doesn't get updated, wouldn't take much to do that.
I would have thought Wild Atlantic Way and the North Antrim Coast route would have done a lot to bring the ferry back to life. Piggybacking WAW and NAC would be a huge boost.
