So who has bits of metal screwed in them?

Over the handle bars one fine day resulted in two plates and a bunch of screws in my left wrist.

Having lived half my life overseas I know that the NHS is good but nowhere near as good as some.
Mine was in Asia and I had a second op to get it all out a few months later. I have 100% mobility and strength and have no side effects at all...except I probably ride a bit slower. B)

Thank you all for the replies, I've had my surgery done this afternoon, I'll post an x-ray when I get one.

I always knew on a biker forum there would be lots of screws and metal, and I always thought if I got crippled it would be on a bike, not while chasing a football!

Sorry to hear about your injury. Hope things improve and it heals up well.

Had too many injuries and broken bits over the years, but have been fairly lucky not to have any permanent hardware in me.

Late to the thread cos I'm on a family holiday.got a screw in my knee cap and two in my tib/fib plus a Stent in my groin to stop any clots coming up from my legs.broken 34 bones in total over the years and probably half a square yard of grafted skin

Two replacement hips. First one at 38 & second one at 40. Broken leg, broken wrist. A few months away from reaching 60. Hips are needing an MOT. Looking like I'll need revision. Hope they have new super carbon fibre racing ones available ?

Reckon I'm a bit like a Morris Marina ? Bad design !

Did my left leg Tib and Fib in last years Austin Vince event on a 690 KTM enduro, 7 months on, still limping. Apparently I am looking at another year of recovery.
what didn't help was when they put a pin through my Tib in Spain they knocked it in too far and smashed my ankle to pieces, which according to the X rays was in perfect condition before the operation, my specialist over here told me what the Spanish medical team had done to me was Barbaric!!

Had my femur pinned, then had the pin removed (never got told why) a year later, whilst it can feel a bit weird from time to time it's never been a problem and it did a get me up and about quicker that without (thumbs)
Also had my shoulder pinned due to crushing the rotor cuff and the end of the bone that swivels (or used to :blink: ) inside it.
Have been told they might replace the joint when as they put it 'the technology has been perfected' so not sure how the chap on here with a new one gets on with his!

The surgeon who fixed me up told me he'd had a motorcyclist in who was moaning that 'this is the 4th operation I've had to have to keep me on the bike' and asked me what's wrong with you lot - which made me chuckle

I broke 14 bones in one event [car, not bike] back in 1979.

Some metal bits in my left ankle but it has never caused me any problem. Left ulna however means my wrist is a bit restricted in rotational movement but I got over it.

My youngest daughter is full of metal due to scoliosis and sets off the airport alarms.
