Re: ccm gp 450 happy day
I've never been able to 'gauge' the distance between light-on and splutter-stop on mine, either. I once did about 15 miles but my wife ttied the same and ran dry. We leaned her bike from side to side and managed to stretch out another 400 yards or so
. Luckily, thefe was a petrol station a mile away that also sold petrol cans. Lesson learnt but at least we did get a warning light.

Re: ccm gp 450 happy day
I have only had the warning light come on once as I was just pulling into the garage, so sounds as though I was lucky, but what is the average range you are getting per tank, assuming you get all of the 20 ltrs in there in the first place ??minkyhead wrote:oh dear ...yes the low fuel light is far to late i ve done it too ..if you jump up and down like a lunatic you can usually get another mile or so out of it but not pracyical on the motorway

Re: ccm gp 450 happy day
It depends which tank the fuel pump is located in - I haven't looked this up - but I was going to suggest the same thing.drumbrakes wrote:Back to fuel lights, if your fuel light works at all, it's from a sensor built into the BMW fuel pump. as the CCM tank is a different shape, it's probably set for too low a level. It might only take a slight upwards bend on a float arm to "recalibrate" it, but you'd need to take the pump out, and that's no small task.
Perhaps it's something the factory could have done before installing!
As for range, I have managed well north of 200 miles in the past however I think the way the Performance Pack encourages hooligan riding will reduce this

Is the Spitfire not already a "scrambler"?minkyhead wrote:oh dear ...yes the low fuel light is far to late i ve done it too ..if you jump up and down like a lunatic you can usually get another mile or so out of it but not pracyical on the motorway

Or is at a café racer?
I'm not very good at classifying road bikes. I can just about deal with sports bike, naked, cruiser & tourer.

The fuel pump is in the lower front point of the main rear tank, just in front of the rear shock.jonny955 wrote:It depends which tank the fuel pump is located in - I haven't looked this up - but I was going to suggest the same thing.drumbrakes wrote:Back to fuel lights, if your fuel light works at all, it's from a sensor built into the BMW fuel pump. as the CCM tank is a different shape, it's probably set for too low a level. It may not actually be a BMW pump though - I think the G450x pumps fitted from the top...

Re: ccm gp 450 happy day
G450x pump is accessed from below, and the fuel level sensor is a little electric contact on the side. Can't remember if it's adjustable, got a feeling it isn't. Hope this helps....steve

If you fully fill. Takes about 3 minutes to dribble in the last few liters you should have a useable range of at least 230 miles (dependent on the usual stuff). I tend to refuel at around 200 miles and can put around 13-14 liters in.
