I've been watching these with interest ever since I took a test ride when they first came out. At the time I was looking for a low weight machine that could do lanes and road alike - I guess I still am.

I think that my issue is the fuelling low down. To me, spending 10K on any bike, I would want it to be pretty darn perfect out of the box, I dont want to then have to spend more to get it running right.

When I'm doing lanes near me I'm really slow, tending to ride anything in 1st or barely second as I like to see whats going on around me, (what a nightmare to ride with eh? ) but if the fuelling is problematic and a bit lurchy then I'm not sure it really would be the bike for me....

My 450s was 9K plus another 1K for the power commander and pipe, Hence 10K.

Just out of interest, what are the far better sub-60bhp packages that you refer to and, importantly for some, how much do they weigh?

It doesn't have to be brand new for me, my 03 plate 644 cost me £1700 , is only 12 kg heavier than the 450 but has heaps more horses, is bored out to 710cc with Kent Cam and Quill end can for less than £600. It has WP suspension and Brembo brakes, it wouldnt cost more than £400 to add a bigger tank alter the subframe and I would still gave change of £7k, plus the smiles for the miles. Then I look at my GP and scratch my head wondering where the value is and why it took more cash to get it to run right. When I here of people paying £10k for one because its brand new and has some extra bling bolted on, I just shake my head in disbelief, I know of someone who traded his first in for £7k and is actually paying another £5k for its replacement !! I guess if money is no object then who am I to question? but for someone scratching to save up £10k for one, my response would be save your money and build something bespoke for less. The other thing to consider is the resell value, see what dealsr will take it off your hands never mind give you your asking price, I couldn't get an offer over £4k for mine with less than 2k on the clock, in essence they (Fowlers) didn't want it, a 'Marmite' bike they feared getting stuck with

I would gladly take £5k for mine to get rid of it I dislike it that much even with the PC and Powerplug Bump :pinch:

Sarge - if you're serious, I'd be seriously interested at 5k? Which model/year is it (does it have the blingy red bits?) - is it standard height (I'm lanky). I have similar reservations about them but been tempted since the first bikeshow and very tempted at 5k. Pm me if you'd rather. Cheers

I think that you would be bonkers to try and sell a CCM through Fowlers, really they are not going to be interested, and so any offer is heavily discounted. The bikes have many good points and the oft quoted low speed running issue can be reduced cheaply enough by fitting an ECU spoofer and making sure that the chain is set to spec.

To be clear it was against a brand new 690 as they had them for sale VAT free @ £6.5k on the road. If you had read the posts previous you would know that all the low speed issues with fueling and poor performance had been taken care of, at the extra cost of course :pinch: :pinch:

mine number 5 was 7650 ...i traded it in and swapped all the bits over to the new one before brexit hit the parts supply ... when the base bike was breifly on for a few months at 7050 so needed no extras at all

it cost me roughly a grand a year in depreciation ..say a100 quid a month ..25quid a week ..didnt think that was too bad

anyway the gp450 is no more ..so the question is what next ? B)
whats the wether forcast ..wheres me map

ccm gp 450 happy day

Mine runs fairly well, except on slight downhills where you want just a touch of engine breaking. 99% of the time, on or off road it's fine. That's bog standard factory tune with nothing extra.

I still think there's probably some way to tune out the lurching on overrun, by calibrating the TPS to match the manifold air pressure sensor as the ECU changes maps. I'm just not sure how to go about doing that without a rolling road or clever diagnostic equipment.

Do BMW G450Xs and Huskies with that engine have the same characteristic?

I've had mine back about a week after its fourth return visit to the factory. It is a fantastic bike and without the fuelling issues and the abysmal seat I think would be value for money. I bought it to commute on, do the odd weekend or evening local trail, I also hoped to do a European trip with some local trails thrown in last summer but in the end I skipped the trails and took my Cali because I wanted to sit down at the end of the day. Someone at the factory told me that they had sold approximately 330 GP450s and 300 had had no problems. This implies that about 30 had, the impression I got was that these were all down to fuelling. If your are in the 90% that have okay bikes that is great, for those of us who have the one in ten it is not so good.
After the second factory visit my fuelling was spot on for about two months, then it had more severe problems, now it is back where I started. With modern diagnostics etc I would have thought it was possible to rectify the problems. When I talk to the factory they mention the power commander but this seems to me like polishing a turd, if the fuelling is not right surely adding more electrickery is not the answer.
I am at a loss really, when it is going great I love the bike, but I am not sure that it is capable of doing the job I want it to, I have had had several near misses with it cutting out in traffic or on trails. I may try taking it back to the factory one more time.
Cheers Jak
