Stella Alpina 2017
Hi Guys I'm looking at doing the Stella again this year, is any one else going via the BMW festival in Garmish?
Re: Stella Alpina 2017
I'm looking at it now, I would love to do the BMW bit as well. What are the dates in July?

4 of is going to the Stella from Essex. Not via Garmisch though, my liver couldn't take it again after last years shenanigans.

Three of us are going from Derby, hoping I got the dates right, 8-9 July. Any info on camping there would be useful, I've heard it's almost wild camping but with loads of people about.

Usually the 2nd Sunday in July so the dates sound right. Camping at the refuge is part way up the route and is just wild camping with lots of people, Bokki Camp is the opposite side of Bardonecchia town up the hill towards Briancon direction (maybe a mile or so out of town from memory).Dosa wrote:Three of us are going from Derby, hoping I got the dates right, 8-9 July. Take cash as the petrol stations are shite for accepting credit or debit cards, Bokki camp is usually an overflow field for tents, Police often in the area with their trusty radar guns so watch your speed, great atmosphere wherever you end up ....... enjoy (thumbs) .
Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.

We will be staying at bokki again because the beer and pizza are cheaper than chips. Surprisingly last year bokki was empty , only a few of us there compared to the year beforeTonibe63 wrote:Usually the 2nd Sunday in July so the dates sound right. do you know if bokki needs booking in advance, it looks like a good option as I'm planning to cross from france on the D1T and bokki is on that road

I usually do but have never needed to. Last year they told me I didn't need to book and they didn't have a clue who we were when we rocked upDosa wrote:do you know if bokki needs booking in advance, it looks like a good option as I'm planning to cross from france on the D1T and bokki is on that road

Re: Stella Alpina 2017
I'm leaving my job at the end of June, which means I could potentially have a few weeks free..... seriously starting to think whether I could ride down on my C90 and camp on the way down
Depends a bit on the weather, finances, and if I can make it that far on my C90....
I'll stick a sticker on my top box so keep an eye out for me (thumbs)

Re: Stella Alpina 2017
That is not only an interesting choice of bike but an example of how the event should be attended. Best bikes I have seen near or at the top are a new 916 - Codge's triumph (again and again) and once there were 2 monkey bikes ridden by a pair of TV aerial men = nutters that took them to Bardo in an old escort van. Take up there owt but a enduro !!!
