Hi to you all to be honest the today has been beautiful just not much time to get out in it . My usual run is up mont Vontoux which has some great views but then I have St Remy with a road that is straight out of top gear or the Nesque Valley or the Ardeche region which is like a bikers paradise . These are all within about 50 Km's and yes I do consider myself very lucky .
I am 4 hours from Italy and about 3 to Spain . Ok for those of you who haven't turned to a different forum thinking ' show off 'I am sorry but you must agree it is to die for

Don't be spreading rumors like that

The first time I met Phil at his place ( only been once ), the first thing he did was hand us a beer and then showed us into Jax Shack saying he had stocked the fridge with all the essentials, we opened it, yep full of beer (thumbs)

I love the Perigord Noir and will be down there in September.

We camp by the river at a little village St Leon sur Vezere. Our friend lives a few km from there and both he and his wife ride Ducatis. I am self employed and if I bring a lap top I can enjoy a few extra weeks camping without undue stress.

Our route down is from either Roscoff or Cherbourg and from Roscoff we have stopped off near La Rochelle in an olive grove near a little village called Marans or at Pornic. Our efforts to get further south are always thwarted by the fact that there are so many nice places, roads and attractions on the way. Never enough time to see everything. The non motorway roads are really good and in many cases the slower speeds are offset by the shorter mileages and lower fuel consumption/toll savings.

Our plans his year are to head east towards Tarn gorges....but it may not happen if we get distracted.

The Perigord noir is some way off to the north west from us . I think you would like ifurther south too . Coming from the Perigords heading my way you have the Parc Natural das Cevennes something you shouldn't miss
