Re: why not try scotland...voted no2 world best destination
Scotland it is my dream trip. I always put it off due to the rainy weather but this year we will head there at end of September... no matter how capricious the weather will be

And cheaper, easier to get to,very little police presence on the roads and no massive fines if you are caught slightly over our higher speed limit.qcnr wrote:A bit like Norway, just smaller![]()

always loved Scotland, lived and worked up there for a yr,on the black isle, been hundreds of times and never get bored of going,in fact were going in September for 2 wks. booked two self catering cottages one near kyle of lochalsh and one near tain.both coasts and good bases for touring.cant wait, provided I can bend me knee we will be on the bike otherwise in the car.
bosses are like nappys, always hanging round ya arse and full of shit.
life is like a shit sandwich, the more bread you have the less shit you eat.
never get into owt you cant get out of.

great place ..dont get too exited about the north 500 as it is getting over popular,...just pick your own route in fact i would head inland from inverness towards thurso then turn left...west is best .try an island the ferries are quite cheep or go to skye over the bridge ..ergol is a wonderous place.ps .keep away from tartan shops

I must say that my view of scotland was damaged a fair but while i was working in Edinburgh for six months a few years ago.
I was there as the very accurate historical artifact called 'Braveheart' came out. For some weeks afterwards i did not feel safe going out in the evening...and it was MY personal fault the Scotland had been oppressed for so many years.
Thats said outside of the cities i've not had anything but very nice times. I have spent a fair bit of time near Tain and i like it up there.
But as for a biking trip..maybe not. Yes the roads are great but the weather is not and the midges spoil it for me..sorry but it's how i feel.

And the beast shall be huge and black, and the eyes thereof red with the blood of living creatures, and the whore of Babylon shall ride forth on a three-headed serpent, and throughout the lands, there'll be a great rubbing of parts

I know I'm worried if I see any Aussies north of Hadrian's wall as well:Mike101 wrote: I was there as the very accurate historical artifact called 'Braveheart' came out. As they say, theres no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing and bad preperation..
