It's on Motors TV; 15min program each morning I think.

I prefer the Africa (Eco (WTF)) Rally. It follows some of the old route of the Paris Dakar. Pal Anders Ullevalseter has won the bikes for the last couple of years and I'm pretty sure Jean-Louis Schlesser of Dakar Buggy fame is the man behind it now.

I've just had a look at the Eco rally youtube channel and there is a bloke doing it on an electric bike, says he can get upto 200km out of the batteries if he takes it easy, just did 140km and said there was plenty left!

The Dakar is The Dakar. The pinnacle of Rallye Raid.

Africa Race is the old Dakar with the adventure of crossing countries like Mauritania. It's bleak, I've been.
Africa Race is entrant friendly. If you don't finish a day, no problem, get back and get ready because you're still in the race. All be it with huge time penalties. This makes it much better or the self funded rider, as most are.

But it's not The Dakar. And like moths to a flame people keep entering. Even suffering from Dakar fever...they can't stay away. Just ask Corky.

Also nice seeing big bikes being put through their paces, and places that some of us have been fortunate enough to travel.

That was my dilemma in 2011.

Spend so much money on a 2 week rally ?

Or … ride around the world for 13 Months ?
