Multi bike insurance

Post by dodursley »

I have a multi bike insurance which is up for renewal but have not heard from my current provider yet but I decided to do some internet hunting, its too cold for riding-southern softy!
Trawling through the google list only 4 of the eight providers I tried that actually said they did multi bike online did do it online.
Type through the N pages of me and then the bike and find there is no bike 2 option ie it ends up as a single bike quote, another 15 minutes wasted. There is no consistency of modifications half did not list crash-bars or frame/engine protectors nearest was crash bungs. One provider's website did the select address from a popup window that was blank, or white text on white background? eventually found that a click in the blank window sufficed. Do they actually check the usability their own websites?
Some insist on a mobile phone number not landline &/or mobile, some of us (me) do not do mobiles, but that is a plus as they are unlikely to get a reply from their cold calls.
For the quotes I managed to get Carole Nash was 2x Novitas (Aviva) and E-Bike was 4x Novitas and Bennetts was much the same as Novitas, but would be reluctant to go with Bennetts from past experiences.
Perhaps my current provider will offer a reasonable quote again this year so I stick with them.

Theres a few recent threads on multibike insuranse with several suggestions of prefered providers.Myself I ended up with Motorcycle Direct on seperate policys for four bikes ranging from 400 to 1600cc which was still cheaper than Carol Nash on one policy

Answered this question on a similar thread and as much as I would like all my bikes on one policy after a lot of wasted time and research realised to get the best deal you need to take out separate policies.

I have used Carole nash for a number of years, every year I search around and mostly they get very close to the best quotes.
Unfortunately this year was a nightmare with clerical error after error, and unresponsive unhelpful telephonist`s.The company has definately gone downhill and if a customer service value was asking I would give a negative value.
Eventually after much work on my part all is good, God know what would happen in the event of a claim.
Next year I will use elsewhere......

It is nice to have all the bikes under one wrapper, but need to find a different agent

I am curently with Peter James 2 moderns (2003) and 7 olds (1954-1995), I was checking the moderns in case it will be a cheaper option to split olds and moderns. Wait to see what they offer, last year it was better together than leaving them split.

Quote looks good (£310) but I need to get a requote as I have sold the A7 (in 4 hours on ebay! got a cash deposit).
I will probably add another having got space, sold the Big One? if I can can sell the HD &/or Vara & VFR750 I might think about a Mk2 Crossrunner a kind of Vara/VFR mix that would probably suit me. That would please the Mrs as the bike count will go down dramatically.
