You will not be disappointed! Worst bit is trying to ride through Dublin at busy times, try to avoid! thats quickly forgotten though. Fantastic roads and scenery, and the people are so friendly and helpful.
Guinness is very ok too!

If you arrive in Dublin port on an early morning ferry take the tolled Port Tunnel from the ferry port M1/North/Airport, takes you northwards to the M50. There you find the Irish version of the M25 but all the main routes around the country are accessible from it. Unfortunately the early morning ferries leave you on it at peak hours but if you are going North as in the ABR you are going against the traffic and its a doddle because you only cross the M50, you don't need to go on it. You can avoid the tunnel but its by far the best option. Ferry options are either Stenaline or Irish Ferries with lots of sailing options day and night. Lunchtime sailings are particularly nice, you will make camp site in daylight.

I haven't sorted out my arrangements yet but my route would take me Cork to Dublin M8/M7, then M50 and then M1 North. You will meet a services on the M1 not so far past Dublin airport that's good for coffee and meet ups. The M1 has one toll, all of €1.

If you are planning a different type of trip then one of two other very good alternatives are to come across to Belfast and take in north Antrim Coast and the Mournes and then head south on M1 or much much better keep going on across Antrim to Portstewart [Bushmills Whiskey is along the way] and carry on to the Wild Atlantic Way. Then go back Rosslare to Wales.

Second alternative is to do that in reverse.

There are daytime ferries to Dublin but really apart from Guinness there's not a lot apart from lots of history and nice pubs that can be enjoyed flying over.

For a bike the coastlines are really where it's at.

SatNavs can be funny here, especially if they try to take you through Dublin. At rush hour on a Friday evening that's no joke. I would prefer Friday evening in London.
