Jump Starting

Post by HAMMERHEAD »

A stupid question but I'm no sparky. Is it possible to jump start a 12v bike with a 12v car battery? Or are the amps? Too much?

Yes it works great (as long as you haven't turned the fuel off ;) . The bike only draws the current it needs.
It's easier than running up and down the road too.
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Works the other way round as well. Unless you get the leads the wrong way round. Cost me £1,300

DO NOT have the vehicle running if the car battery is actually in a car. Engine must be off.

Used my Harley to start the wife's Mini. Caused £1,300 to the wife's Mini. The Harley was fine. I put it down to jet lag having just suffered 2 back to back 12 hour flights. Not clever.
