Very funny but wise comments that said you could if the starter system is dodgy,carry a spare battery pack and lead in your pack/pocket available for £30 or so from many chinese websites.Alternatly a long lead with crocodille leads either end and jump it off your mates bike.

Well guys, having read all the negative comments about the Freeride I'm so glad that I didn't buy one. Some interesting comments from people with hands on experience of the machine.

I have been wondering about one of these for chucking in the vehicles (I already carry jump leads) after some eletrickery issues with the Vara recently. And you can't bump start it with a dead battery....

Do they work on bigger engines? I have seen some saying that they will start a 3.5l diesel motor, soa 1l v-twin should be a doddle

Or stick these under the seat??

I got one similar to that before I went to Ireland with Nikoli earlier this year thanks to his sketchy electricals :laugh:

Anyway didn't get to try it until I was in Scotland and jumped some dudes street triple with no problem at all (thumbs)

I have a db power version of these power bars with jump leads off amazon think it was £25 £30 works perfectly I left my heated grips on at work 1 day before I fitted a ignition feed relay from 7am till 6pm the battery was should we sat dead on arrival it wouldn't bump clipped this little Badby on and bang started first time I've also used it to start our mercedes sprinter van and if memory serves me correct Darryl of here lent a chap his at the Malvern Hills rally this year too start his tenere on Sunday morning after it wouldn't start and drained the battery the booster was showing as flat as a pancake as he'd used it all weekend to charge his phone etc and bang the tenere jumped perfectly and burst into life I carry one everywhere now

It's only a 2T 250, even with no tow rope he could just hold onto his mates jacket and get up enough speed up to jump start that!

Just goes to show, never tryst a guy with alabaster statuary in his extensive front garden - bound to bean all-the-gear-and-no-idea merchant ... (thumbs)
