Very funny but wise comments that said you could if the starter system is dodgy, carry a spare battery pack and lead in your pack/pocket available for £30 or so from many chinese websites.Alternatly a long lead with crocodille leads either end and jump it off your mates bike.

Well guys, having read all the negative comments about the Freeride I'm so glad that I didn't buy one. Some interesting comments from people with hands on experience of the machine.
Re: Why dirt bikes need a kickstart...
I have been wondering about one of these for chucking in the vehicles (I already carry jump leads) after some eletrickery issues with the Vara recently. And you can't bump start it with a dead battery....Andi_Archer wrote:Very funny but wise comments that said you could if the starter system is dodgy, carry a spare battery pack and lead in your pack/pocket available for £30 or so from many chinese websites.Alternatly a long lead with crocodille leads either end and jump it off your mates bike.
Do they work on bigger engines? I have seen some saying that they will start a 3.5l diesel motor, soa 1l v-twin should be a doddle
Or stick these under the seat??

It's only a 2T 250, even with no tow rope he could just hold onto his mates jacket and get up enough speed up to jump start that!
Besides, I was always taught that there's no such thing as a 'free ride' - I'll get me coat (thumbs)
