EU. In or out?

...So what qualifications do we need to make decisions regarding our future.

Is it some sort of exam we take, if so I presume those already qualified have passed it.

I think a good grounding in international politics and world economics ought to be the minimum requirement to make decisions of this magnitude. I'm a (reasonably!) bright guy but I didn't feel that I was "qualified" to participate in the referendum and was extremely disappointed by the very poor quality of the information provided to me by both the exit and remain "campaigns".

Or is it just an "I am better than you" type thing that allows someone else to make decisions on my behalf.

This is a divisive and misleading argument because it implies intelligence=worth, which is simply not true. I might be more intelligent than the mechanic who fixes my bike, but that doesn't make me "better" than him, nor does it make me more qualified to make decisions on what needs to be fixed. Nor does it make him "better" than me, nor does it mean I respect him less than others who are more intelligent. Simply, he is better "qualified" to make decisions about my bike repairs than I am.

I don't like this particular argument because intelligence has nothing to do with whether some people are "better" than others and nor should it have anything to do with the respect we give each other.

Or even, because you, the ignorant electorate, voted me "IN", (in your ignorance, despite not being qualified to make any decisions,) and now as such, I am qualified to make decisions that you may not want me to make because you, the ignorant and unqualified lot voted for something that I do not want...

It may be that I'm just reading the wrong news papers or watching the wrong news channels, but I'm getting the distinct impression that there are far more 'informed' persons commenting on how Brexit was not a good idea, and how the outcome won't be what was hoped for. Anyway, I'm off to southern France tomorrow, but sadly with far fewer euros in my pocket than I had recently become accustomed too.

Have fun, I'm staying here with a few less £ in the bank, in fact having received our third lot of material price increases since Brexit we have spent the last few days reworking our budgets and are looking at a six figure hit on our profits through the rest of our financial year. That will most likely result in three less people working in our business than we planned and the downturn in sales revenue due to cancelled or postponed projects hasn't even started to hit us yet. This is not make believe or scaremongering but a real world effect of the brexit vote on real peoples lives.

Germany and it's issues are one of the reason people like me decided to vote leave, the German banking system and it's possible failure has a effect on the whole EU and it's future and thus OUR Brexit.

Amazingly you managed a post without a spectacular headline even though as usual you couldn't/wouldn't give a reasoned answer

Government ministers are better than either of us at understanding Brexit

Of course I agree but at some point we have to be part of the process and that involves us voting. We are trusted to vote ministers in and then they falsify their expenses etc and the vast majority of them were caught with their hands in the till.

Are we then to trust them explicitly to make unbias decisions regarding Brexit that a lot of them will and are presently profiting from.

In my view, one of the main reasons people voted Brexit was the corruption and complete disregard for the voting public that MPs and MEPs have.
There is, and has been for many years, massive black hole in the EU/Brussels budget. No one has ever offered a plausible explanation as to why. They just accept it because it is a gravy train that no MEP wants to derail whilst they are making money out of it.

"Absolute power corrupts absolutely". Just ask Sam Allerdice (or the rest of the FA/FIFA for that matter.).

My tonge in cheek reply about qualifications above extends to those making decisions who often do so for their own ends, not those of the public they represent. They may be qualified but that does not mean they make decisions based on honesty.
As such the people of Britain have protest voted (rightly or wrongly) against the EU establishment. The right to vote is the only chance the public get to express their dissatisfaction or assent to the status quo. If we leave everthing to them, they will rob us blind.

this means
they don't really giveatoss about what you think ...except when elections come up...
then they will get focus groups together and tell us want we want to hear...

after the elections are over ..they then forget all of that and concentrate on their everyday punch and judy politics ..

it was only when this referendum came up (a fluke) that the people were able to get a say

The top 2 banks in Germany are screwed and if they wobble it will have a massive knock on affect on the Italian banking system which is hanging by a thread. the EU has a massive battle on it's hands just to try and survive.

The Italian primeminster is holding a referendum on completely changing the way Italy is run as their economy is flat lining along with the French one and now Sarkosy has stated that if he gets elected he will push to keep the UK in the EU and offer far better terms as he stated it was idiocy to let the 2nd largest contributor to leave.
