I saw your post last night on another thread. Interesting bike, I'd never heard of before, is it the version that can transform (like the robots (thumbs) ) into a trials bike by removing the seat and part of the tank?

Have you done this, if so what's it like?

I see that Johnny Boxer raves about his Beta Alp - but I guess he has the 350 / 400 version? Does anyone know how the 2 compare?

Where are you based?
Any more photos?

They're like a mountain goat, probably the kind of modern day Beta version of a Serow but without all the rust, go anywhere and do anything except over 60mph ;)

Great little bike, I also had the 4.0 (350cc) version and it too was fantastic on the trails, not quite the mountain goat that the 200 is but it was better on the road allowing longer distance trips
The new 4.0 does not have the DR350 engine like my one had though so not certain about it's pedigree or reliability

Please enlighten us, what have they replaced it with?

I've never ridden the 200, but Simon Rice (Spanishbiker) swears by his, but he's 10 stone wet through, I'm not sure it could haul a 'large unit' up a steep incline, but I'm prepared to be told otherwise...

The 200 will haul plenty oversized folk around no problem, it will run out of puff on the road at around 60mph though
