Hi all

I am enjoying seeing all the new bikes come out year after year with all the brilliant gizmos etc, but I would like to know what bikes us lot have that have done bigger mileages? Can we look after a modern engined bike and keep them forever, I love my 990 and at present I have done 38k, I have put it up for sale twice and twice pulled it back now vowing to keep, put a pic up of your cherished machine with mileage and any major engine repairs needed

A 2005 Pan European, 93,000 miles - had to replace the water pump cover due to a corroded connector pipe, that's it so far - owned from new (thumbs)

I had a 955 Sprint ST for 9 years/65k miles.Engine wise all I did was check the valve clearances every 12k miles,they didn't need adjusting for 48k.

I have a mate who owns a pan & had the audacity to complain to Honda UK that the headlight bulb blew for the 1st time at around 100K. They sent him a bulb for his cheek

My Honda CBF125 has 56,000 miles on the clock now. Alternator Stator and clutch basket have been replaced other than that lots of oil changes and setting the tappets. I'd like to see 100k but I think that's unlikely.

The GF's "cheap chinese" 125 also has 23,000 miles on the clock. It burns a little oil otherwise it runs just great.

My 1994 AT (not a modern engine!) has clocked up 77000 miles and sounds sweeter than ever :) I had the valve clearances and carbs adjusted this summer as they haven't been touched since 48000. The mechanic said they were almost spot on! Compression is perfect on 1 cylinder and a tiny amount down on the other. The only thing I've had to change is the rectifier. I changed the points on the fuel pump just in case. It was working fine but didn't want to push my luck whilst on Pyrenean trip. From what I gather 100,000 shouldn't be a problem. Just as well as I can't afford a new bike;)
