Salisbury Plain big bike friendly
Salisbury Plain big bike friendly
August Sunday 21st a nice big loop of the Plain. Starting at Countess services Amesbury 9.30 for 10am depart. I will be on the S10 all bikes welcome. Mostly gravel with a few twin track bits thrown in. If it rains beforehand I will cancel but it seems unlikely so be prepared for dust. Bring water. Tyre choice is entirely up to you but racing slicks will make life hard. It is the last day Imber is open so we will go poke that with a stick along with Stonehenge.

Bummer cant make this one, went for a little play last Wednesday, very dry and dusty hardly any puddles about. One or two rutty bits thanks to the 4x4 brigade. But easily avoided.

Re: Salisbury Plain big bike friendly
I advise you to stick to the gravel trails and very easy tracks, as I got really stuck when the trf led me down some nasty rutted tracks when I had my ttr600 .. but then, I am a novice woos ? all the rest must have used the centre grass, while I turned a deep red, gasping in the mud ruts ...

Re: Salisbury Plain big bike friendly
The hardest bit will be the newly legal track alongside the gravel perimeter road so you get the option to not get muddy, although yesterday I had to try hard to find any sticky bits.garyboy wrote:I advise you to stick to the gravel trails and very easy tracks, as I got really stuck when the trf led me down some nasty rutted tracks when I had my ttr600 .. but then, I am a novice woos ? all the rest must have used the centre grass, while I turned a deep red, gasping in the mud ruts ...
