Looking advice on the Suzuki Burgman 400cc (big) scooter, quite fancy one as a second run about, I like the relaxed 'twist n' go' riding style to be honest.
Anyone here owned one/has one (?), I'd love to hear your experience/thought's/views please...
I did take a test-ride on one about 18 months ago and enjoyed the scooter experience.
Thanks;
Peter

Re: Suzuki Burgman 400 scooter
As a second runabout you will probably be pleased. I once made the decision to buy a Burgman 600 Exec, it was a big mistake
got rid of it at a huge loss after about 4 months. It did everything it said on the tin, but I just could not get into it after riding a conventional bike. Great for slipping down the shops etc, but that was it for me.
Re: Suzuki Burgman 400 scooter
I'm a big fan of scooters, especially the bigger ones.
If you get one, just remember what you're buying.
It'll beat a 2.0ltr TDi from the lights and up to 40mph in the commuter GP, but at 400cc and all that weight you're toast on the duel carriageway.
If you need one to do a job......a twenty mile each way commute in all weathers on decent quality Tarmac it'll tick a lot of boxes. Good storage, easy to use and good weather protection.
It's the Internet......so people will tell you they've been round the world on them.....but honestly that's not what they're made for.
Although I did a 4000+ mile round trip to Bulgaria on my Gilera GP800, 830cc twin scooter. It would beat anything normal on four wheels up to 70mph and hit a true 125mph. That was a great scooter!

Wow! What a site....I love the urban laptop/document single strap satchel, with the handy front pocket for moisturiser storage.Peirre wrote:As an added bonus Tucano urbano make goucho 's for most scooters

Re: Suzuki Burgman 400 scooter
I had a burgman 400 about 6 years ago and loved it as a get to work bike and the odd little run out, great for doing little shopping trips as they have loads of storage and with a topbox even better.think if memory serves me correct I had mine to about 85mph but it was screaming at that and didn't like 70 on the motorway.but all in all a cracking second bike it would make.hope this helps.cheers tony.
Re: Suzuki Burgman 400 scooter
I bought my scoot earlier in the year, mainly for the commute, but it gets used for all sorts now. Real good fun for bimbling about and exploring.
Its not burger though, mine a silverwing, but the same idea.
They go ok but be prepared for a bouncy ride on bumpy roads, most likely due to all that unsprung weight on the back wheel

another maxi-scooter fan having owned Tmax 500's, 250 Maj, Silverwing, Burger 650 over the last 15 years.
Did 10 day 3k tour of France on the Burger, superb.
Service intervals can be a pain as most require simple oil change at 3k'ish miles, belt changes and DIY servicing is fairly straightforward Small wheels really don't help with our pot-holed roads, but I have taken them down "gentle" tracks etc. Performance wise they'll shift along though planning overtakes on the smaller cc versions is obviously required.
As r6eck says the Suzuki finish is very poor!!!
