I typically fit LED bulbs into my old fart bikes. H/L, side light and stop/tail. Being a bit lazy and keeping the original 6V dynamo system. Decent lighting and the bulbs don't blow. (thumbs)
Very worthwhile mod.

That headlight is on all the time but draws about 1/3 power--one reason for it on a stop/start trail bike. Its been jet washed loads of times (although not a stupid direct squirt). I have one on my WR250R which has also lasted ages and passed MOTs. I have one fitted on my son's berg fe 390--here there isn't enough room behind the reflector but as the bulb is one of those funny old 35/35 w thingys there is a replacement that fits straight in and has all the control electronics built in--lovely and bright. My triumph tiger 1050 had HIDs fitted when I got it--ditched those and replaced them with H7 and H9 LEDs--much better--but had to cut the back out of the bulb cover to get the extra length in(and have added extra shrouds). These have been much better than the HIDs(with no flash due to warm up!) and have passed the MOT without a problem--get a one or two CREE bulb that puts the light out in the right place and the beam pattern will be as intended.
Hi all, I'm looking for a LED replacement for the OEM S4 35W bulb of my Husaberg FE390. I read you installed one on your son's FE390, Catcitrus? Did you have to modify it? I'm particularly interested in those Cyclops H4 3800 Lumen LED's. Are they just plug & play or do they need heavy modifications to install them on my Berg?

Thanks for your advise,
Dieter

this is the 35/35 W version (Berg) 351606638952 .It works pretty well except that my MOT guy said that the cutoff was not a nice flat line on dip--but let it go--but its definitely a good dip/main. The H4 version in my son's BMW was actually OK on the MOT although of a similar design (but the reflector is conventional and round and probably better than the angular Berg one at directing the light). Both bulbs give a much better light than stock--although compromised by having all the electronics in the bulb outline itself--on both power and light emission point (there are not LEDs on both sides). However , its a small disadvantage compared to the light gain. In both cases there is limited room behind the bulb so the normal longer, more powerful, fan assist types will simply not fit--but they still only use about half the power of a conventional incandescent--and at the price you really can't go far wrong IMHO.

Have a read here http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/h ... t.1080510/
Different bulbs suit different reflectors so read the article carefully. Also, shop around for the best price.
I now have an Evitek H4 LED bulb in my CCM. much better light than before. Although the cut-off isn't as sharp as I'd like, it's still usable without dazzling oncoming traffic.
