Bike Accident do I need to disclose it when renewing Car insurance?

Post by Cone »

I had an accident in Feb this year, actually someone had an accident into me but it is currently disputed (I was on my bike which escaped pretty remarkably)

Anyway the question is as this was a motorcycle accident do I need to disclaim it when renewing my car insurance, something tells me I dont because of previous communications but I just cant remember...

Help?

No you need to tell them, even if it was non fault. since its currently being sorted, they will deem it as your fault until proven otherwise.

You need to tell them everything - last thing you want is any comeback in the future if there's something you've not told them and they use it to wriggle out of paying you out on a claim !

You definitely need to inform them, regardless of who is at fault. :S

You must disclose ALL accidents, otherwise it will invalidate your policy and if they cancel it because you haven't been completely 'Transparent' you may have difficulty renewing with another company.

Insurance companies share this information, so even if you didn't disclose it, it may come back to bite you (thumbs)

Yes you have to tell them about any accident on your motorbike but they're not interested in the full no claims discount you have for your bike!

Yea it does say something along the lines of any insurance claims or claims still pending in the last five years in the small print.

This always annoys me. I can lose the no claims discount on my car insurance, my normal bike insurance and my classic bike insurance if I do £500 worth of damage in a company vehicle but I can do 50k miles of accident free miles in the same company vehicle and it doesn't get acknowledged.

You have to declare it so the company's got an excuse to charge you more! such is the working of the shark-infested insurance business.
