Iceland next week!
Iceland next week!
Was there in August 2014 with the bike, It's an amazing country I can wait to get back there on my bike again. The ring road is amazing plenty to look at and do. It's probably all tar now at this stage. The West Fjords are amazing I would go back just to do then again in 2014 allot of the roads there were gravel but also there was lots of construction going on especially along the southern part. The 35 through the highlands is all gravel. I had planned to visit askja but the volcano was acting up do didn't get there. I was using mitas e07's front and rear brilliant tyres they are still on my transalp700 now with 20k km up on them.although I'll be trying the e09's next week. It can be really windy there very scary at times. Worst wind was climbing out of isafjordur, (where the ferry lands) on top of the mountain I got blown across the road in front of an on coming car with only feet between us when I got back across on my own side of the road.

Re: Iceland next week!
Hi Vindaloo
I'd definitely recommend a visit to an outdoor swimming pool near Seljavallalaug. from the A1 near Skogarfoss take the route 242 to Ruafarfell, straight on at a cross roads then it's signed to Seljavellir, about 20 mins rough walk up the valley a warm swimming pool appears - free to use, there's a changing hut but no showers or other facilities (stay to the left of the river on the way up the valley and there's a raised walkway to follow - it makes crossing the river easier later, there's no bridge! )

The water is green with algae but we had no ill effects.
The Jokulsarlon boat ride is worth it too www.Jokulsarlon.is
Enjoy yourselves

Re: Iceland next week!
I'm in the Faroe Islands now for a couple of days as stop over on the way back. Will get round to a ride report once back (though I have a week's holiday in Munich almost immediately). In the meantime I wanted to share a few pictures from this fantastic trip ...
