Tramp had a problem with his rear subframe, a mate strengthened it and also created pannier racks you need to ask him to send you some pics and explain what was actually done to his bike. as it is really set up quite well now. (thumbs)The Sarge wrote:Cheers for the infoTim,
I have a sheepskin on my 990 which I can't be without ( it's a Welsh thing you know ) but will be making serious mods to the seat, I thought my DRZ was bad but this is awful. The rest of the bike is pretty impressive for a 13 year old hack though, WP suspension makes handling all those horses a breeze off road. Need to look at luggage options now for a trip from mine down to Spain.

The nearest we have to that is probably the CCM GP450.... again! :whistle:herman wrote:The 660R may of been a better bet? other than that its XR hondas etc unless the holy grail resurfaces B)
SWM RS650 is almost there for a more off road orientated bike.

The Sarge wrote:+ 1 on the CCM 644, only had mine a week and loving it but it's not a DR engine exactly it's the Freewind XF650 mill with twin carb, twin spark plug , bigger valve head, plus more horses !! On the negative side, the seat is like a plank with nails in it, mine is going to get a serious make over. (thumbs)
Sarge,
Took my Seat to Dianne of Chaos Custom for reworking. She did a top class job to be fair. New gel inserts, memory foam and lowering; far better than the stock item. She is in the Swansea Valley, just off J45 of the M4.

I test rode the ccm before production got into full swing. I ordered one, but had to cancel due to the delivery dates constantly being put back and I had a trip coming up, so I ended up keeping my 690r.PaulinBont wrote:Ah the Holy Grail!

More and more recently I'm coming round to thinking about getting one.
I'll get this year over with and then probably take the plunge on a 450S.
Re: Middle ground
funny I bought xt660z and looking for swapping with wr450f or similar  I have similar impression with tenere, damn too heavy for off-road. Was wr450f really that much of the maintenance? besides oil change? Sure it would be cool to have something betweenMaddscottish wrote:Hi lads Iam looking for a Bike in between wr450f and xt660z tenere.
Meaning maintenance wise. My WR450f was to much maintenance a couldn't really do a good amount of road miles
Now I have bought a xt660z tenere and allow its not to bad riding it. It's just to heavy moving it about ie, in and out my shed. Pain in the arse.
Anyone any ideas I was looking at WR250 R which has 3000 mile service intervals. I don't mind make within reason no Chinese shite tho. Any help thanks.

Re: Middle ground
Hello Robson. Honestly comfy as you like riding it but could get the thing in my shed without a massive fight and nearly breaking me arm haha. The wr450f wasn't to bad for what I was doing just around the door but a would like to ride one a hour down motorway to get to some lanes. I used to Change my oil and filter every 300 miles can do that in a day bit of a put off for me really.
Iam looking at XR650r kick start only putting as off at the minute the ccm 450 is abit out of my price range at the minute.

I dropped twice tenere off-road and if there is full tank picking it up is a pain, especially in mud or sandMaddscottish wrote:Didnt ever drop it but can imagine it walls be a twat to pick back up.

Re: Middle ground
My old friend Kelston, who rode his GP450 solo in wake of the Dakar this year, called me the other day and it looks like we'll meet -bikeless sadly - in the Pyrenees next month. It'll be interesting to get his feedback off-line ...
