that looks like a special pulling device. Hardly something I'm likely to have on viewing, so not just a spark plug screw out job then!

Hi Mike, I know u seam set on one of the vans u mention.
I finally replaced your expert after 2 years , and after
Loads of deliberation/consideration went for a 57 reg
hiace, it's the one with the bigger front grill, I think
they look better. I'm very impressed with it. Don't rule
Them out. Your quite welcome to come and have
Look, drive,And try the hounds in if u like, no Bother
They are well recommended on this site but quite hard
to find local, I had to wait a while for mine to come along.

Let me know, good luck with it. (thumbs)

There's a vid on the Tube with a home made device as well. A flat bar and some threaded rods.
It'll end in tears I tells ya.

If he buys a Toyota Hiace, he won't need to bother ;)

Hi Neil
Thanks for all of that and especially the offer to 'try yours for size'. It's very kind of you and I really appreciate it. I'm keeping an open mind, just liked the look of the vivaro type and know they drive like a car, but the issues do worry me. I'd be happy to get another Transit, like the ultra-reliable ones I've had in the past, but the bodywork always rots. I actually love the current 1st gen Trafic I have and it's very reliable, but Lynne hates driving it as it's too slow and old-world! so I've had my orders ..... women!
I'll get in touch should I decide to take you up on your very kind offer.#
All the best, Ike

Its swings and roundabouts IMO.

Like you, when I was looking for a van there are no end of horror stories online.

In the end I bought a 2007 Renault Trafic LWB 115 dci 6 speed 1 year ago with 105,000 Miles. It's now on 125,000 and its hasn't missed a beat. The only work I've done is new front disc and pads and an oil & filter change. Mine came with full Renault service history which gave me a bit of comfort.

I love the high up driving position and it shifts pretty well too (for a van...)

For the most part its luck of the draw.

All the best.

Pete
